I love writing mysteries set in contemporary times, but I also love historical research. When I’m not preoccupied with a work in progress, I dig into archives to find my ancestors.
What a fun post! Genealogy is so fascinating. I know my relatives came from Ireland to Canada. My grandfather decided to move to Chicago as a young man. He had dual citizenship. I loved your comment about how choices can change future lives. Enjoy the trip you have planned! It sounds wonderful! I also loved Anne of Green Gables growing up. I still have all the books. Now I'm ready to break them out and read them again. ;)
I think genealogy is such a cool way to feel connected to family and history. I think about what our ancestors lived through, and it makes me feel part of the whole historical landscape, reminding me how meaningful history is. Your story is interesting, too.
Thank you, Tracey. The Disney movie, Up, resonates with John and me. We always think about Carl and Ellie and their mantra - Adventure is out there. We're hoping to follow ours as long as we can.
Joy — Oh, how FUN learning so many things about YOU! I'd love to be a fly on the wall during your summer travels. I'll keep an eye on your social media, hoping you'll post some of your adventures.
Great post with interesting thoughts. I love the premise of your Dickinson poem book, too.
Thank you. I thought that might resonate with my fellow English educator.

You're having great adventures and discovering all kinds of things about your families interesting past. This is wonderful fodder for your writing.
Carl, you are so right. This is what authors do, right? We're always observing and immersing ourselves in experiences to fuel our stories.
I am jealous of your upcoming summer adventures!! What fun!
I feel very fortunate. My mom and I have talked about this for years. I wish she could come with us, but since she cannot, I hope to send videos.
Loved getting to know what fuels you inner artist! Hope you have a wonderful summer!
Thank you, Margaret. Literary pursuits are my jam and will make a good combo with family treasure hunting.
